It is a great pleasure and privilege to welcome you to Beechcliffe Thackley. We are a specialised setting for pupils aged 11-19 with EHCPs that identify social, emotional, and mental health as significant needs. Our pupils come from across the Bradford district and we are dedicated to providing a centre of excellence where every child can thrive.

We are affiliated to Nurture UK and our whole-school approach to nurture is central to our ethos. Many of our children have grown up in circumstances of severe stress and adversity, which has impacted their early years learning and development. Our school promotes emotional growth by emphasizing safety, security, routines, clear boundaries, and carefully planned learning opportunities. 

Attachment and trauma theory inform our approach and our highly valued and skilled staff balance care and challenge, a relational approach based on positive regard, warmth, and attunement alongside structure, high expectations, and a focus on achievement and attainment.

Our curriculum is carefully designed using a pathway model to meet the academic and personal development needs of our pupils. Alongside our curriculum the principles of Respect, Resilience and Responsibility underpin everything we do to prepare every child for modern British life.

We know that the support of parents and carers is crucial to the welfare and development of pupils and we work hard to build strong, trusting relationships with home so that the holistic needs of pupils are met.
